I believe photographs should feel lived in.
I document weddings as they unfold, without asking you to perform or step out of the moment. My approach is observational and calm: I offer reassurance when it’s needed, light guidance when it’s helpful, and then I step back. The photos become evidence of what was lived and the way it actually felt to be there.
I’m Madison Van Wylen, a Newport-based wedding photographer with an approach shaped by observation, not orchestration. I pay close attention to light, movement, and how people naturally relate to one another throughout the day. I stay responsive to what’s unfolding and document it with intention.
DON'T KNOW WHO NEEDS TO HEAR THIS BUT
The most honest photographs come from being present—not from being told where to stand or how to feel. My role is to pay attention without interrupting. When you’re free to stay in the moment, what’s real has space to show up.

Okay, Love it.
I don't like to talk about myself. Hence this post at the bottom of the page. Buuuut, I thought I'd pull back the curtain a little so you know more about the girl behind the camera.
